PANTRY PEOPLE – Wow ya'll! I am so grateful for everyone who drops stuff off. Some tips to make your support…well… more supportive. * Don't leave brown bags and boxes on the produce table or on the ground near the pantries. They get gross fast, blow into the neighbors yard, making it look messy and making it hard to be good neighbors *we have sooooo much pasta and so many dried beans. Maybe hold off on bringing those for a while * Please don't leave boxed food and unsealed items on the produce table. If the panty is full and you can come back please do. If you can't make another trip please put things on the table in the backyard *under the pavilion* so it doesn't go to waste. I refill the pantry several times a day and will restock with what is there *Please try to keep the pantry organized and don't overstock. This isn't just me being picky. When folks have to dig through stuff it is less of a pleasant and dignified experience. Plus things fall out, boxes get smushed and opened and precious food goes to waste. Thanks for all your help keeping this going! See MoreSee Less

Peace House, Ypsi
Today has been such a beautiful example of mutual aid and community care! My heart is full. Woke up this AM to fill the pantry with donations received last night. Then headed off to Southeast MI Pull Over Prevention! This month we had a street vet come for free pet vaccines and well checks. Ya'll, clearly this is a need… I arrived about an hour before we start to set up and there were sooooo many cars in the parking lot waiting! As we set up the Peace House, Ypsi and Pet Pals Mutual Aid tables with out usual assortment of free snacks, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, harm reduction goodies and (of course!) pet food/ supplies, folks waiting for the vet got out of their cars to help unload, set up, organize a "check in system" to see the vet etc. Turned out the volunteer from the health department has training and experiencing in giving vaccines to animals so others staffed the health department's table so they could help with vaccines. FedUp Ministries made sure we were all Fed, supplies and gift cards were handed out and community was built! Came home to find the pantry empty, but by the time I came inside and got stuff to refill it someone else was in the driveway filling it up! This is how we survive. This is how we thrive. This is how we feed each other and keep each other safe. This is mutual aid and community care. This is love being waged! #gratitude #WeTakeCareOfUs #StrongCommunitiesMakePoliceObsolete See MoreSee Less
